What a hollow sham of a free vote Brown is offering Catholic MPs, and what hollow shams of MPs they are if they take it. They have a free vote of some aspects of the bill as long as they vote for the whole bill at the end. It salves their consciences so they can say: 'it wasn't me gov'. Anyway, whose conscience is more important? MPs represent voters, don't they? What about voters consciences - who's asking the people what we think? For a Prime Minister who talks big about a dialogue with the people, Brown sure acts small in making it happen. Above all, the peoples' opinion should count on this one, so now's your chance, Brown!
