Care for the elderly

The Prime Minister is suggesting a full consultation with the people on this thorny issue of who pays for elderly care. Now, no party believes more in people power than UKpopdems, but this is just a cynical attempt from Brown to trick people into a corner. He knows that if the people say the state should pay, then Brown will use this as an excuse to put up taxes. If the people say they should be responsible themselves, then Brown will use this to get rid of state obligations for the elderly and spend the money currently allocated on another of his wasteful, useless schemes. It's a no win situation for ordinary people. I hope the people will say: hey, Brown, we want free care for the elderly and no tax rises - just like Scotland!
