Soldiers' pay

Britain's armed forces are treated appallingly. They are badly paid, badly supported, badly armed, badly housed. No other public sector service would stand for it and that's why Traffic Wardens are paid more than front-line soldiers. No party is prepared to do anything about it either; there's plenty of noise but no action. UKpopdems alone recognises the value of our armed services and we'll look after them properly. Pay for the most junior ranks will increase by 30%; we'll double front-line resources and invest in the best equipment from home and abroad; and, most important, we'll look after our forces in full recognition of the danger they willingly put themselves into on Britain's behalf. Our unique policies mean we'll have the money to do this and we'll use it wisely.
