Goals & Policy Detail - Britain
BACK
TO MAIN GOALS & POLICY DETAIL
This is what you say:
We want to be proud of Britain and our place in the world.
What's wrong with things as they are?
People are
confused about Britain's place in the world
British Citizenship
is too easy to obtain
Britain's
performance and stature on the world stage is diminishing
Britain's
historical strengths and beliefs are being erased
UKpopdems will make sure that Britain is once again the best country
in the world, so we'll:
Heavily invest
in sport, engineering, science, medicine, arts and entertainment to
produce world beating results and encourage matching investments from
the private sector
Reward individuals
and teams who demonstrate world beating performance and achievements
Welcome new
citizens but make citizenship harder to obtain and of better long term
value to both the candidate and to Britain
Encourage
the union flag to be flown on all public buildings and by everyone.
Ask the peoples'
views on political correctness, equality and discrimination, health
and safety etc, and reflect these views in law where appropriate.
Ensure better
visibility of British history, culture and beliefs in order for everyone
to understand what Britain stands for.
Set up a new
independent body to enhance Britain's rural and city landscape
What will this do for the British People?
You will
recognise growth in Britain's world performance in multiple areas
When individuals
and teams are rewarded, you will know it is because of world beating
achievements
You will recognise
and be encouraged to celebrate British history, culture and beliefs
New British
citizens will understand their full responsibilities as well as their
freedoms and rights
Your views
on complex social issues will be listened to and the majority view acted
on
Britain's
history, culture and beliefs will be a bigger focus in schools and our
public heritage protected and properly invested in
Britain's
country-side and towns will be protected and new building will be more
attractive and sustainable.
Companion notes to the policy
We're looking
for spectacular British achievements: medical and scientific breakthroughs,
sporting records, global arts awards, fabulous entertainment and astonishing
engineering feats. Achievements will be rewarded through honours and/or
other benefits.
Tougher citizenship
would include English language fluency; basic knowledge of British history,
geography, laws culture and beliefs; value to Britain. Citizenship through
marriage lengthened to seven years.
The people,
themselves, should decide on social issues that affect their daily lives.
Peoples' votes will be decided by a simple majority between two choices.
One of the choices may have additional gradient choices.
Britain's
history, culture and beliefs will be part of the new civilisation curriculum
in schools.
Independent
bodies are totally separate from government, funded by separate tax
precepts.
